On the eve of our trip to Winsford United we look at our opening four games of the season.

With many new faces in the men's first team it really is a new look side for the 2024-25 season with no fewer than nine new arrivals.

The opening day saw Stafford Town make the short trip to Hind Heath Road and after a tough battle the points were shared in a tight 1-1 draw. Ben Greenop slotted home his first competitive goal for the club 24 minutes into the game before Eshan Greer equalised just before the break.

Our first three points of the season came just 4 days later against local rivals Barnton, Ben Greenop again opening the scoring for The Ramblers before a Niall Cope free kick secured the win after Ryan Gibson had equalised for Barnton.

Sandbach made it 7 point from a possible 9 the following Saturday after grinding out a 1-0 win against 10 men Eccleshall. Sam Lynch fired home his first goal for the club just after the hour and the score remained at that until the final whistle.

Finally we played host to New Mills who came to us after drubbing Shawbury United 8-0 so we always knew this was going to be a big test. They went in at the break a goal up thanks to a Declan Hackling goal after dominating large parts of the first half and after two minutes of the second half it looked as though it would be much of the same when Danny Warburton added a second for The Millers. This sprung Sandbach into life though and Sam Lynch made it 2 in 2 after 65 minutes and we pinned New Mills into their own half for most of the last 35 minutes but just could get that equaliser. I would be very surprised if New Mills are not up there fighting for promotion this season based on that display.

Seven points from a possible twelve is a decent enough start to the season and we look to pick up more points as we still have another 6 league games in August and a trip to Parkgate in the Fa Vase to look forward to.

Crazy to think that by 1st September we will already be 11 games into the season.

Finally, our support so far this season has been immense both home and away, so thank you to all those attending our games and lets keep cheering on Dec's blue and white army.
