Sandbach United would like to welcome our new Chair, Simon Tillott.
Simon has been involved with Sandbach Utd for over 10 years, initially as a parent, before becoming involved as a volunteer coach and team manager in 2018. More recently he was appointed onto the committee as a Project Manager with specific responsibility for delivering our new 3G surface which is due for installation over summer 2025.
He has worked in the health & fitness & healthcare sector for over 30 years, most recently having responsibility for the national delivery of community based social impact programmes to support people living with long term health conditions.
Speaking after his appointment, Simon is delighted to be given the opportunity to continue the great work the committee has delivered over recent years. "We have a fantastic set up here at Sandbach Utd, one of the largest grassroots football clubs in the north of England. I look forward to working with our dedicated volunteer coaches, managers and committee to support them in delivering the best football experience we can for our community, whatever their age, ability and experience.
With huge demand in our boy’s section, ever expanding girls and ladies’ teams, alongside some brilliant work to grow our disability teams, making football inclusive and accessible to all, there is much to do to ensure we can continue to meet the growing demands of our community”. He continued “the recent on field success of our 1st team, bringing great support from the community in terms of attendances is also brilliant for the town and the club. I am keen to support our development and reserve teams to help them be successful to provide a player pathway into our 1st team to continue their football journey with Sandbach Utd”.
Outgoing Chairman Peter Colclough said “It’s been an honour to hold the position of chairman of Sandbach United football club over the last 4 years and have enjoyed the journey immensely.
Now the club have appointed a new chairman in I’m sure we will continue to progress, and I wish Simon every success in the role”.
Following a handover with outgoing chairman Peter Colclough, Simon will formally take up the role in the new year.
