SSE Wildcats is a programme designed to get girls 5-11 years old participating sport, specifically, playing football. The FA Wildcats centres, like Sandbach United, provide girls the opportunity and access to participate in fun and structured training sessions exclusively for them.
Sandbach United has been a registered Wildcats centre since the FA initiative launched in 2017. Over the 3 years, many girls have been introduced and inspired to play football and have gone on to progress through the girls pathway at the club.
Sandbach United has one of the largest girls sections within Cheshire, hosting 10 teams from under 8s through to under 15s and ladies thereafter. The section is continuously growing with over 120 registered girls and ladies at the club for the 2020/2021 season.
Despite the current climate in light of COVID-19, football has returned with guidance provided by The FA and the Government. Through following this guidance, there are restrictions and measures in place to ensure the safety and wellbeing of everyone involved.
If you're interested in getting involved in the Wildcats session (or any other girls team) at Sandbach United , please contact Girls Football Development Officer, Dani Taylor at 07909070363 or danitaylor20@gmail.com.
Alternatively, the Wildcats session takes place at Sandbach Community Football Centre (Hind Heath Road, Sandbach, Cheshire, CW11 3LZ) on a Wednesday evening, 6-7pm. Come along to the session wearing shin pads, suitable footwear for the 3G pitch (turf trainers/moulded studs, NO metal studs) and with a drink of water to join in on the night.
