Sandbach United started the game looking the stronger team, obtaining most possession and creating numerous chances on goal.
Although Sandbach’s attacking play was good, when crosses were slipped through on goal, nobody was able to get on the end of the ball to fire home.
Brookvale, in comparison, posed little threat in the first half with centre back Zeta McCormack holding shape in a disciplined manner.
As a result, we headed into the break goalless.
Into the second half, Sandbach United decided to change things around brining on right back Jess Bailey and striker Sarah Dury.
The first goal of the game came inside the 51st minute when centre back Lucy Wright lofted the ball from the half way line where striker Rochelle Ramroop, was able to pick up the ball and fire past the Brookvale keeper.
Minutes later, Sandbach got their second goal when Courtney Beeston was able to control the ball on the right side and smash the ball into the back of the net.
Despite the two goal lead, Brookvale dug deep in the last 10 minutes of the game and were rewarded for their efforts.
A Brookvale player was able to control their team’s long range goal kick and take a shot from outside the box which helplessly went into the top right corner past Dani Taylor.
Not long after, Brookvale equalised with a second which yet again exposed goal keeper Dani Taylor in the top right corner.
A disappointing result for Sandbach United despite creating a 2-0 lead, yet another crucial point for the league in which the ladies remain the only unbeaten team.
Manager Steve Wright said: “An overall mixture of a poor pitch, not a great first touch and then decision making in front of goal.
“Yet we dug in deep and remain unbeaten in the league.”
Zeta McCormack was named as Manager Steve Wright’s Player of the Match.
Steve said: “Zeta did well in that position today, she kept their main threat right in her pocket and did not give her any time on the ball.”
